After a profitable winter on all weather The Rutland Rebel ran well when second here in the spring. He was quieter on his next two starts but is now working well again. He could go close at a big price.

This could be the last racecourse appearance for Grey Flint unless he is placed or better. I hope he will still be in training next week!

14/09/21 – 1st 4/1 – Midnight Jewel – Charlie Longsdon – Fontwell Park
Midnight Jewel usually gets somewhere close at the finish of his races, making the most of his lowly mark, but only at Market rasen two runs back has he managed to get his head in front. We aren't expecting the miracle of a second win but as usual he should be up there in contention.…

13/09/21 – 1st 3/1 – Sundayinmay – William Knight – Kempton Park
I ran back Sundayinmay too quickly after her win at Lingfield but have freshened her up for today. Hollie steps in for Hayley and I'm hopeful she can beat this field of non-winners in some style.

13/09/21 – 1st 5/2 – Head On – Ian Williams – Worcester
Head On won around here on chasing debut and a 4lb rise looks very fair. With the confidence from that initial look at fences this big strong gelding should be the one to beat.

13/09/21 – 1st 13/8 – Fifrelet – Ian Williams – Worcester
It's never easy to concede a penalty in bumpers especially when like Fifrelet you have been off the track for a long time. He made a great showing only losing out narrowly to a Tom Lacey horse around here three weeks ago and should be fitter today. The form pick although newcomers in these events…

12/09/21 – 3rd 12/1 – Teqany – Fergal O’Brien – Haydock
Teqany has done well to win his last two races on the Flat and remains fairly handicapped. He battled on well at Pontefract and has to be each-way value at these odds. Hopeful.

11/09/21 – 2nd 22/1 – Lyrical Lady – Hughie Morrison – Lingfield
Like so many of these horses nowadays, Lyrical Lady tends to hold her breath which makes performing to the best of her ability difficult. Hopefully the tongue-tie might have an impact on that today.

11/09/21 – 2nd 20/1 – Cardano – Ian Williams – Doncaster
Cardano enjoyed a profitable winter but struggled in two higher-grade races afterwards, including in the Chester Cup. This is more his level but off since June, he could be better for the race.

10/09/21 – 1st 7/4 – Quickthorn – Hughie Morrison – Salisbury
On the ratings Quickthorn has a fair bit to find with Berkshire Rocco but we have to hope he might be vulnerable after a seven-month absence since his run in Qatar. A Listed winner last year, he escapes a penalty while we get one for winning a handicap. Probably not the right race to run…

09/09/21 – 1st 16/5 – Storm Melody – Ali Stronge – Chelmsford
Storm Melody is a low-grade eight-year-old handicapper but he gives his owners plenty of action and fun. Last week over this course and distance he finished well to be second, still giving the impresion he saves a bit for himself. He's better drawn this time and I'm switching from cheek-pieces to blinkers hoping they will…

09/09/21 – 1st 4/5 – Curtiz – Hughie Morrison – Epsom
After his win here last time Curtiz inevitably is the one to beat and if he turns up he should justify the short price. That win brought a 10lb rise, rather a knee-jerk reaction you would think, but with a 5lb penaly he is 5lb well in and hopefully will take the opportunity.

09/09/21 – 3rd 25/1 – Byron Flyer – Ian Williams – Epsom
Byron Flyer, who started 2021 rated 9lb higher, is finally getting some respite from the handicapper at age ten. He did run well in the Queen Mother Cup at York in the summer and also has performed well around this course on Derby Day 2019 when second to handicap snip Soto Sizzler. He will be…

08/09/21 – Blazon – Kim Bailey – Wolverhampton
This horse has never won on a rating above 66 and today he is running off 67, but I'm not sure what that means in this race. Luke Morris knows the horse well and he must have a great chance of going close, but Blazon is an odd horse who needs to have things go…

08/09/21 – 2nd 15/2 – Champagne Noir – Charlie Longsdon – Uttoxeter
Champagne Noir has won off higher in the past but is not the most straighforward to train. He has the ability to win this race on that best form and is in good order. With him though there is always a slight question-mark.

07/09/21 =- 1st 22/1 – Liberated Lad – Ian Williams – Windsor
Liberated Lad has yet to show too much for us, but that has resulted in a steady decline in his mark. We will need to see more before suggesting he is ready to win a race of this nature.

06/09/21 – 1st 10/11 – Brief Ambition – Fergal O’Brien – Perth
Brief Ambition won his maiden hurdle in good style and was not disgraced first time in a handicap. He's had a break over the summer and returns with first-time cheek-pieces. They might help see off his younger Irish-trained market rival.
