Astral Beat has done all his running so far at six furlongs and didn't perform badly on his return and handicap debut at Salisbury. I toyed with the idea of dropping him to five last year but now he's stronger and probably better equipped for that. The minimum at Newcastle could be ideal and he has an each-way chance off his big weight.
