The Lion Dancer is in the middle of a series of pulled-up runs and until he breaks that sequence he is hard to justify as a betting proposition.

04/02/21 – 3rd 100/30 – Captain Cattistock – Fergal O’Brien – Wincanton

Captain Cattistock did very well for David Maxwell but when David got his bad injury he decided to reduce his string and we were able to acquire this very nice horse. We took him to Lambourn the other day for a gallop and he blew pretty hard but we want to qualify him for the…

04/02/21 – 2nd 3/1 – Nestor Park – Ben Pauling – Ffos Las

Nestor Park was always a horse we liked and he did very well over hurdles until losing his form when the team was generally out of sorts. He has been gradually finding his feet over fences and after an excellent run in a Newbury handicap last time should be ready for his first chase win…

04/02/21 – 1st 15/8 – Lieutenant Rocco – Ken Pitterson – Ffos Las
Has run well on all his three starts over fences and was third in a Grade 3 at Cheltenham last month. This represents a drop in grade and the step up in trip should bring about further improvement.

03/02/21 – 1st 7/2 – Kangaroo Point – Ian Williams – Kempton Park

Kangaroo Point is not great value at present odds. That said he should be competitive off what looks a fair mark.

03/02/21 – 2nd 16/1 – Glentaneous – Brian Meehan – Kempton Park

Glentaneous is a nice son of Gleneagles. He'll probably need the run and has a moderate draw to overcome.

03/02/21 – 3rd 11/4 – Hunny Moon – Fergal O’Brien – Warwick

Hunny Moon is ultra-consistent and she will handle the ground. This looks a particularly warm race though and we will be more than happy with a place.

03/02/21 – 3rd 12/1 – Unai – Ben Pauling – Warwick

Unai has to improve massively on what he's been doing on the track. He's working well enough at home but needs to regain his best form and I'm far from confident that he will.

02/02/21 – 3rd 20/1 – Foster’sisland – Micky Hammond – Newcastle

Foster'sisland has been struggling for the most part over hurdles, showing nothing like his useful bumper form. Reverting to the level might bring him more into matters and the 10lb we take off him will help. Small place chance.

02/02/21 – 3rd 12/1 – Party Business – Ian Williams – Newcastle

Party Business is quite nicely bred and goes all right at home. If anything he will probably lack a bit of experience but we are hopeful of a decent showing.

01/02/21 – 1st 11/8 – Sometimes Always – Ian Williams – Lingfield Park

Sometimes Always is a talented horse who has done well hurdling. At the start of his career he should have been much nearer in a hot bumper at Ascot. Big chance today.

31/01/21 – 3rd 4/1 – Quoteline Direct – Micky Hammond – Wolverhampton

Although a non-winner so far on all-weather, I think Wolverhampton suits Quoteline Direct well. He's a nippy sort, so adept at going round the bends and I wouldn't be surprised if he proved better at a mile and a quarter although he stays much further on turf, where he's a five-time winner. Jack knows him…

30/01/21 – 2nd 7/2 – Billams Legacy – Fergal O’Brien – Doncaster

Obviously Billams Legacy has the Noel Williams horse to beat, but she's been off for a long time. Our mare impressed last time at Wetherby but now concedes the winner's penalty. We'll find out how good she is today.

30/01/21 – 1st 40/1 – Takingrisks – Nicky Richards – Doncaster

Takingrisks is in grand form. Obviously he stays very well and that will be the main requirement today. He's a big price but I won't be shocked if he gets in the shake-up.

30/01/21 – 1st 25/1 – The Cob – Ben Pauling – Doncaster

The Cob didn't run his race at Newbury after two emphatic wins this season. He's much better than the Newbury form but will need to be to figure here. I will have slight reservations if the ground becomes too tacky.

30/01/21 – 3rd 10/1 – Central City – Ian Williams – Kempton Park

The race wasn't run to suit Central City last time but in this big field there's more chance of plenty of pace from the outset. Granted that, Central City should be finishing strongly up the straight and has each-way chances.

29/01/21 – 1st 16/1 – The Rutland Rebel – Micky Hammond – Wolverhampton

I was amazed to see The Rutland Rebel was 33-1 for this race as judged on his run around here over two furlongs shorter it seemed obvious he would improve for the extra distance. That was his all-weather debut and he was the stable outsider behind Lleyton who won the race. I think he has…

29/01/21 – 2nd 10/1 – Red Skye Delight – Micky Hammond – Wolverhampton

Red Skye Delight hasn't run badly recently around here and the last twice she didn't get much luck in running and still finished on the heels of the leaders. If things go her way she would have a realistic each-way chance.

29/01/21 – 1st 9/2 – Lunar Sovereign – Fergal O’Brien – Doncaster

Lunar Sovereign surprised us a little when winning on hurdles debut at Wetherby last time. It won't be easy with a penalty but on the plus side he now knows his job. It would be nice if he could back that up with another solid run and in this big field he must have an…

27/01/21 – 1st 5/4 – Sir Edward Elger – Ken Pitterson – Lingfield Park
Made an eye-catching debut last year when he did all his best work inside the final furlong. Next he was sent off a short-priced favourite at Newcastle, but I think that race came too soon. This well-made 3yo should have strengthened up over the winter months and looks the one to be with.
